Special Note form a customer that may be helpful:

This unit will not connect to Sony's optional Multi Disc Players. It will only accept a generic multi disc player that plugs into the "Aux" front jack.

Anyone that currently has a non-shortwave Sony Xplod car radio installed in their vehicle, simply has to unplug/remove the old Xplod and plug in/install the new unit because all Xplods use the same 16-pin wiring harness. But, be sure to set the radio frequency switch on the bottom of the radio to the setting for the US (10Khz/200Khz) - not the foreign 9Khz/50Khz setting. If one wants to transfer the radio from vehicle to vehicle, use the DIN bracket mounting method and obtain an extra 16-pin harnesses and DIN bracket (available from any Sony car audio retailer or on ebay).

Also, the shortwave reception frequency range is:
SW1: 2.940 - 7.735 kHz
SW2: 9.500 - 18.135 kHZ
(except 10.140 - 11.575)
WWCR's frequency is 12.160.
