What: Citizens are staging a protest to demand labeling of Genetically Modified foods.
Their demands are simple:
1. We have the right to know and want Genetically Modified foods labeled.
2 . We want factory farmed animal and Genetically Modified animal products labeled.
3. We want independent, transparent, long- term studies done on the safety of GMO’s for animals, plants and humans.
4. We want the organic industry protected from cross contamination and lawsuits to organic farmers from GM technology.
Who: A grassroots effort by consumers in 17 cities around the nation to demand labeling of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, IN, MI, MN, MO, NM, NY, OR, TN, TX, VT, WA and WI.
Why: Despite a growing number of studies showing harm to health and the environment the FDA has declared GM foods “substantially equivalent” – no labeling required.
